Use a basic pie crust or buy a frozen deep-dish 9-inch ready-made crust
1/2 lb. bacon, fried crisp, crumbled
1 c. grated Swiss cheese
To make basic custard:
3 eggs beaten
1/2 c. heavy cream (or use milk)
2 T. melted butter
1 T. flour
pinch of nutmeg
Bake pie crust by itself in 375 degree oven for 7-8 minutes.
Beat all ingredients together with wire whisk until blended. Scatter bacon and cheese over bottom of crust. Pour custard over those ingredients. Bake quiche in preheated 375 degree oven for about 40 minutes or until custard is firm and puffy. Serve warm or cold for a picnic with a nice bottle of wine and a homemade salad.
